Rev. Carole Starnes Fossen, of Cedar Mountain, NC passed away at home January 4, 2010 of natural causes. A non-denominational Christian minister, Carole had a passion for animals, and was the founder and director of Terra Nova Center’s Animal Lighthouse. 

Carole was Born May 11, 1945 in Sandpoint, Idaho, she was 64 years old.  
She was preceeded in death by her father, Troy Bond Starnes, Sr. and her brother, David Bruce Starnes. 

She is survived by her mother Rev. Marian Y. Starnes, two daughters, Rev. Jordan Rae Mikena of El Paso, TX and Megan B. Crone of Crete, Illinois; and brother, Troy Bond Starnes, Jr. of Terra Nova Center in Cedar Mountain, NC.

She is also, survived by her sister-in-law, Rev. Lianne B. Starnes, three grandchildren, 1st Lt. Sean Alan Wolf, US Army –Afghanistan, Gavin Bigos 12 and Colby Bigos 10 of Crete, Illinois.

Other survivors are three nephews and a niece, Phillip Starnes, Pisgah Forest, NC, Shayne Starnes, Charlotte, NC, and Jason Starnes with the US Army in Iraq.  Her only niece, Alisha Starnes, lives in Powell, Wyoming.

A memorial service will be held at the Terra Nova Center chapel – 3475 Reasonover Road, Cedar Mountain, NC at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 23rd.
